Femi Kuti Reportedly Goes For Emergency Surgery

Afrobeat maestro, Femi Anikulapo-Kuti has reportedly been transferred to an undisclosed Lagos hospital for surgery.

It was reported that the usual Sunday gig Femi holds at the New African Shrine has been called off.

A statement released by the management of the shrine called for prayers as the veteran musician goes under the knife.

The statement read:

“THIS IS TO INFORM OUR FANS AND LOVERS OF AFROBEAT THAT THERE WILL NOT BE SUNDAY JUMP ON 22-11-15 BECAUSE AMBASSADOR FEMI KUTI IS GOING FOR AN OPERATION AND WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PERFORM FOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS. WE WILL KEEP ALL UPDATED ON THE SCHEDULE OF WHEN THE POSITIVE FORCE BAND WILL PLAY AS OUR PRAYERS ARE WITH AMBASSADOR FEMI KUTI, AFROBEAT FOREVER!!!!!

The cause of ailment could not be ascertained as at press time.

Former Kogi state governor, Audu Abubakar has won APC’s governorship ticket for Kogi state governorship election which holds in November this year. At the state primaries which held in Kogi state today August 30th, Audu won the majority of the 3044 votes in the party primary election that ended around 4:00 am today. Congrats to him.

The social media and blogosphere have on Monday been buzzing with reports on the long-awaited outcome on ministerial nominees that would be issued by President Muhammadu Buhari.

With less than 25 hours to September 30 – deadline given by President Buhari to release the list –Vanguardng has published a host of politicians and technocrats who are speculated to make the ministerial nominees to be sent to the Senate on Tuesday.

Bare it in mind, this list is not an official list from the Presidency. Again, this is not likely the real list because some names such as that of Dr Kayode Fayemi, Femi Falana and Engineer Segun Oni are all from Ekiti State.

Note: According to the constitution, the President must appoint a minister from each state.

President Buhari Issue Warning To Biafra: Read

President Muhammadu Buhari has send a clear note of warning to groups agitating for the carving out of what they called Biafra from Nigeria, saying his administration will confront and crush them.

The president while urging them to perish such thoughts, reiterated that the corporate existence of Nigeria as a single entity is not a subject of debate and will not be compromised under whatever guise.

He gave the warning in an address at the investiture of the Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Nnaemeka Alfred Achebe, as the 7th Chancellor of the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

Buhari who was represented by the Minister of State for Education, Anthony Onwuka, said the menace of insurgency and actions of those agitating for the dismemberment of the country would be surmounted.

According to him, “The country is currently facing challenges of insurgency and other forms of insecurity that have become a threat to Nigerians to live their country and be educated in their country.

The security situation in the country entails that every Nigerian must discharge his responsibility in bringing about peaceful coexistence.

“The menace of insurgency and actions of some people agitating for dismemberment of this country will be surmounted.

I therefore sound a note of serious warning that the corporate existence of Nigeria as a single entity is not a subject of debate and will not be compromised.

“This administration will put in place sustainable programme which will put our education system back on sound track.

The university should on their own part key into the wave of change across the country. As pacesetters, the universities must avoid any corrupt practices.”
